Dragging it out of me (5/5/22)

This week in the pool is HARD.

I always have, as most people do... a 'dip' of sorts after a competition. the week always feels more tiring, the sessions feel longer and my energy levels feel slightly less consistent.

This week has been no exception, and with Monday having a day off, doing two 'triple' days out of the last 3 has been a challenge.

A triple day normally involves 2 swim sessions and a gym session, with one of the pool sessions being intense!

Today, the morning had assisted and resisted speed into endurance, the gym session had partial range, high weight leg work and the evening session was a 3 1/2k threshold session!

Naturally, by the time the evening session came around, I was really struggling to hold myself together, however, I was aware of how I was feeling beforehand and almost used it to my advantage. I never felt relaxed, it never felt really smooth, but it was consistent, the skills got better as it went on and I survived it (though I did not appreciate a 2.4k swim down :'( )

The rest of the day was pretty productive, I feel like I am gradually snapping out of the rut, but I am also aware that this is a very gradual process, and not being too hard on myself whilst I come out of it is key.

Consistency is key and I feel like for the last couple of days I can look back at a day and say I've accomplished that little bit more than when I was mid 'rut'. I am proud of that!

Tomorrow involves a LIE IN! and a coffee and cake date with Abs, can't ask for anymore than that :D

It's been a while, and I am not making these 'public' in the sense of advertising them on social media for now, if you make your own way...
