A brief timeline of my career

  • Started swimming aged 11 at the Tornadoes of South Dorset, a club I trained and raced for up until the age of 17.

  • I got off to a rocky start with my career, needing 2 operations to remove a brain tumour when I was just 13.

  • Made my first National youth competition aged 15, racing at this competition every year until I was 18 and went to university. My best finish was 4th in the 100m backstroke when I was 18!

  • Was fortunate enough to race at the Olympic Trials in 2012, which really ignited my passion for the sport.

  • Moved and raced for Swim Bournemouth for a year aged 17.

  • Went to University of Bath aged 18, where my swimming career began to take off.

  • In my first season for the club, I won my first National senior medal in the 1500m freestyle and qualified for the Commonwealth Games (June 2014) and European Championships (July 2014). This meant that I went from winning no medals in an national competition, to medalling at a senior international competition in the space of a year.

  • Raced 2 events at the Commonwealth Games In Glasgow, with finishes of 6th in the 1500m and 4th as a relay heat swimmer for the 4x200m freestyle.

  • Raced 2 events at the European Championships in Berlin, where I won my first senior international medal in the 400m freestyle, whilst also placing 5th in the 1500m.

  • Made 2 World University Games teams in 2015 and 2017. In the first competition, I got silver in the 800m freestyle in a very close race, as well as winning the 400m freestyle.

  • In the 2017 edition, I ended up finishing 2nd in the 400m freestyle, whilst making finals in both the 800 & 1500m.

  • Following the 2017 World University Games, I moved clubs from University of Bath to City of Sheffield Swim Squads, where I am still based today.

  • Competed at 3 consecutive European Championships (2014, 2016 (OW), 2018).

  • At the Olympic Trials in 2016, I placed 3rd in the 400m freestyle, just outside qualification for the Olympic team, as well as placing 2nd in the 200m butterfly, however, the time was too slow to qualify.

  • I was fortunate to get picked for the Toronto Titans for season 2 & 3 of the International Swimming league, mainly swimming the 200m butterfly, backstroke and the 400m freestyle.

  • At the Olympic Trials in 2021, after a very difficult lead into the competition, I placed 2nd in the 200m butterfly, in a huge personal best time that was only a second off making the Olympic team.

  • I finished my career at the 2022 Commonwealth Games placing 7th in the 200 fly and 8th in the 200 back.
