DAY 77 (1st day of taper! 21/3/22)

It's good to be back and sharing again!


I took a conscious bit of time off to focus on training and relaxing on the training camp. The group came together and I really enjoyed being a part of it. But now I'm looking forward to getting back to some consistency, especially after...


A topsy-turvy day, all-in-all today.


After getting back from camp I am struggling to settle back into a 'slower paced' life, I feel quite restless but sometimes, like today, I really didn't have much motivation to get up and moving.


It's days like this where I feel the least proud of myself, but they are also the days that make me want to be better the next day.


I've started being kinder to myself on days like this, and I'm proud to have had a good session tonight, and now, be uploading my blogs and catching up slightly with everything in terms of my work.


It's ok to have days where you don't progress or move forward. Still, try to take positives where you can from them... even if it is as simple as the classic 'making the bed' or things that seem even smaller, they're still positives :)


In brighter news, today marks the first day of proper taper starting! Gym was more comfortable and EXPLOSIVE! Whereas the pool was still high volume but less intensity. Swam a decent backstroke set today, especially considering I raced less than 24hrs ago! I'm happy to be getting back on top of my rehab and pre-pool activities, and now that all racing is done before trials, it's time to focus on the 'controllables' and enjoy the ride.


Also, I've decided I'm not shaving now until trials, so if I look like a scruff bag, it is temporary but planned :D
