Commonwealth games announcement and media day! (11/5/22)

Well… it’s out now!!

It’s been hard sitting on this information for as long as I have, but it’s also made the blogs and my outlook a lot easier since knowing. I know what i am capable of and I am just glad I have a good platform to see where I can get to in the summer!

It’s quite ironic and something I didn’t even realise at the time, that I have been using the modicum of ‘I am proud’ the whole run up to trials and through it, when the commonwealth team is known as ‘the pride’. It’s something I probably should have known/remembered but I do now!

Today has been a whirlwind. Anything that I get the opportunity with these games to do, I am jumping on if it fits the plan! I felt very proud being part of the media day with 3 lovely teammates, and the interviews, photos and (yes, sigh) a tiktok that I was in today were all great fun.

In total, there were 7 or 8 interviews, which was very intense but I really enjoyed being able to chat about the journey to different people, it gets me excited for where we are headed next.

Everyone at the launch day was so lovely and you could feel the excitement in the room already. The longer this process goes on the more exciting I think everyone is going to be.

Started the day off with a 3’1500s descend set which reminded me of my distance swimming background 😅 (finishing on a 16:08 sc, still just about got it!) and only time to rest was really on trains, since I left the house at 4:30am and returned at 9pm with a session in the evening. But I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way…

Needless to say though, I am shattered! So now it’s time to rest and recover for swim and gym in the morning. First up, abit of SPEED!
