Shorter blog post today as I’m racing and I have more racing to do tomorrow!
Wow, I use a lot of energy on race day! I’ve been so looking forward to racing, that I’ve been bouncing off the walls and so excitable, that by the time the evening session came along I was feeling it slightly! (Caffeine easily took me through 😂)
It’s really an example of how passionate I am about swimming at the moment, that the second I’m offered a chance to race I’m buzzing. I wore my heart abit too much on my sleeve though and that is part of the major learning experience that we call racing. Next time I’ll try and keep it caged in abit more.
Talking about caging in, that was the motto of the heat, as it was constantly holding something back to unleash for tonight. If I can find a way of managing the energy well throughout the day, the ‘animal’ that will get unleashed will be that much more powerful. Which I find exciting!
The final was pretty good. I still think I’ve got more in me and I’m looking forward to getting more experience in at race speed. Most of our training is around fatigue and backend at the moment so when I get some pace 50 opportunities, I’m going to develop that as best I can!
Overall, a good day, and a much longer review than planned! But excited for tomorrow and an even bigger day.
